Did you know that less then 20 years ago if you were a male suffering from thinning hair your choices were very limited. Most often if you asked a doctor for a cost effective natural remedy for hair loss back then, the doctor would tell you to “invest in a good hat”. Today the medical solutions have advanced to a point where in some cases you can stop receding hair and re-grow your own hair.
Some of these medical advances are expensive and invasive surgeries and transplants; others involve the use of laser light therapy. It is believed that Minoxidil improves and increases blood flow to the hair follicles, thus encouraging the follicles to grow new healthy hairs.
Some of the natural ingredients also found combined in a quality natural remedy for hair loss include the following herbs and vitamins:
Saw Palmetto: Is a powerful natural anti-androgen and limits DHT absorption in your blood, lowering the chances of hair loss

It is hard to decide which the most useful hair loss treatment is, when factors vary so much in the different produce. There is the popular vote and then there are the scientific test results, which states how much hair growth there has been or how many clients have seen benefit. In this article I will be concerned with both. The dominant thing to start with is the popularity of the different merchandise, as people wouldn’t use them if they didn’t think they were going to be good.
Propecia is perhaps the most popular treatment in the world. It is a male only treatment due to the way that it works on the male hormonal system. It would cause situations in women especially if they are carrying a baby where it can interfere with the development of the unborn baby. Propecia is a tablet that works by preventing the production of DHT from the hormone testosterone. DHT is said to cause hair follicles to shrink away and actually stop making new hair. Blocking DHT therefore should slow down the rate of hair loss. In tests it has been shown that 5 out of six men can keep the quantity of hair that they already have. Two out of three men report that they had some amount of hair regrowth. The pill seems to work best on hair loss in the front middle and top of the head. The tablets have to be consumed every day and then results should be seen within 12 weeks. If there has been no result after 12 months of treatment it is not likely that it will act on that particular person. Another thing to consider is that the gains are lost within a year if you cease taking Propecia. There are some side effects that men have stated in a small number of situations. These mainly relate to reduced sexual drive.
A lot of men and women with hair loss have tried laser hair restoration therapy. This works by stimulating the scalp with low power laser light. The laser light doesn’t burn or harm the scalp. It is without pain and has no attributed side effects. The laser is precisely just used as a stimulant for the hair follicles to generate hair. It can involve visiting a clinic on a regular basis to maintain the effectiveness of the treatment. The endless visits to the clinic can end up as a problem in itself. Once treatment ends then the gains are reversed. But now there are portable devices called laser combs which people can buy to get a similar treatment in their own time. The laser comb is a miniature version of the old hood systems used in clinics. The comb is brushed through the hair for about 10 minutes and the laser light covers the scalp in stimulating rays that increase the blood flow in the scalp and maintains the health of the hair follicles. They can be used on their own or in combination with different treatments such as Propecia. Women can use a laser comb so long as it isn’t in conjunction with other tablet type anti dihdrotestosterone products. Medical trials have claimed that 92% of users found a thickening of their hair over a 6 month usage period.
In terms of natural treatments, the treatment Revivogen is very popular. Its main materials are natural substances which block the production of DHT. In this way it acts the same as Propecia. However, because Revivogen is not taken internally, but only put onto the scalp, it can be used by women as well. There aren’t any known side effects attributed to Revivogen. As well as DHT inhibitors there are different materials included which are thought to block the receptors of male hormones in scalp cells and also to stimulate hair growth. In terms of numbers it is stated that 72% of people in consumer trials found that they either kept their thickness of hair or found some regrowth.
In deciding on the best hair loss treatment product one needs to consider all the data and then weigh up the benefits and disadvantages of each one. There are other products but these are the top 3 most used best hair loss treatment products.
Out of all the products for dealing with hair loss there are three which stand out above the rest, but each for a different reason. Popularity is one factor in the success of a product but the statistics on how successful they are have to be taken into consideration as well before you decide which one to use.

Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy is all the rage these days. It is the latest in a long line of Hair Loss cures and therapies promising those suffering from Hair Loss a more natural looking appearance at a fraction of the cost of other Hair Loss treatments.
Since being approved in 2007 for Hair Regrowth, Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy is now one of only three Hair Loss Treatments approved by the FDA. Scanning the Internet, it is simple to find glowing accolades testifying to how effective Laser Hair Therapy performs in the battle against Hair Loss:
“Within the first few treatments I noticed a significant reduction in my hair loss and then hair regrowth all over my head. I am 100% pleased. This treatment has changed the way I feel about how I look.” – Evelyn S. Baltimore MD
“My scalp began to show improvement quickly and I have experienced new hair growth. My existing hair has become thicker and fuller.” B.T
Even though Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy has been around for quite sometime, there are many that are still unaware or unsure of its effectiveness in treating Hair Loss. Quite often, those who suffer from Hair Loss will accept their hair loss, shave off their remaining hair or wear some type of nonsurgical Hair Replacement system. Others will take a more aggressive approach and go for surgical Hair Restoration, spending anywhere from three to twenty thousand dollars on the later two Hair Loss Treatments.
The Laser Hair Loss Therapy program, aside from being painless, is simple and cost effective. Normally your program will consist of a treatment plan of 30-minute sessions. You have the option of going to a hair loss clinic or studio to receive this service or you’re able to perform the session yourself in the privacy of your own home.
The most important aspect of Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy is that it is completely safe, painless and there are no known side effects aside from growing more hair.
It may seem strange to hear about a laser being used for Hair Regrowth, but this type of Hair Loss Treatment has been around for some time and was discovered accidentally by a scientist in Hungary in 1967. Forty years later and after hundreds of clinical trials Laser Hair Therapy Treatment has now been proven as an effective hair loss treatment by many scientific studies. In 1982 a report was published called “The Growth of Hair Under Laser Influence of the HE-NE Beam”. In the study, patients with Alopecia Areata responded with positive results after only 6 to 8 twice-weekly treatments.
In the past few years clinical studies tested lasers at different wavelengths and pulsing the laser to find the most effective laser configuration for treating Hair Loss. The most common Laser Hair Regrowth Therapies now operate at a wavelength in the range 650-670nm, measuring how far the light needs to penetrate the scalp. 650nm is the accepted standard wavelengths approved by the FDA. Also, the more laser diodes or little lasers making up the laser, the better. Most state of the art hair loss lasers have 110 – 160 laser diodes.
More recent Laser Hair Therapy studies have revealed why and how laser light therapy helps stimulate hair regrowth. These studies have shown that Laser Hair Therapy increases the levels of a chemical compound called adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is known to stimulate living cells including the hair follicles. Laser Hair Therapy also has the effect of increasing the circulation of blood to the hair root that delivers the nutrients to cells. The increased blood flow is also thought to help improve the scalp environment to slow down thinning hair and to promote new hair growth.
Within the past few years the Laser Hair Loss Therapy technology has progressed so far that one version of the laser device is portable and comes in the form of a brush/comb that can be used in the privacy of your own home or office. Again, more diodes the better looks for 5-9 lasers on the newer models.
While the manufactures claim that users experiences and overall results will differ, 45% of users will see results after roughly eight weeks while another 45% will see the benefits of using the Laser Hair Therapy after ten to sixteen weeks.
Kevin Harding, 46 from Ocala, FL recently noticed that his hair was thinning on top even though hair loss was not an issue in his family. An executive for a large corporation, he did not want to come in with a full-density Hair System on Monday morning and hope that no one noticed. He opted for the Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy. He performed his due diligence research and found that it was going to be more beneficial for him to buy the smaller version of the Laser and attack his hair loss in the privacy of his own home rather than visiting a Laser Hair Loss Clinic. Six months into his treatments, Kevin happily reports that, “ My hair has stopped thinning and there is definite regrowth“.
Success of Laser Hair Therapy differs from person to person, as does the patterns of Hair Loss. Each person will achieve his or her own results from voluminous to minimal. Laser Hair Therapy results will depend on how far advanced the occurrence of hair loss is but most studies show well over 90% regrow their hair. One thing for sure, those with thinning hair will minimally find that it halts, or prevents further hair loss. And there will be those who will find that it not only halts, but actually grows back most of the hair that has been lost.
We have come very far in our quest for a full head of hair. We have colored, glued, sewn and implanted everything we could to create that perfect head of hair. Now, with Laser Hair Regrowth Therapy we can stimulate our scalp to get back on track and start producing hair again.
HLCC offers advanced Hair Loss Therapy methods like Laser Hair Loss Therapy and Laser Hair Treatments in all of our clinics, including nonsurgical treatments for thinning hair, baldness and all other Hair Loss conditions.

Within the population of those hair loss sufferers using Laser Hair Therapy to restore their Hair Loss, the question has arisen, “What are the differences between using a hand-held Laser Comb and going to a studio that offers an in-studio laser for Laser Hair Treatment?” It is an important question that begs to be answered. There are many differences and each treatment approach offers different benefits and strengths depending on the user’s hair loss condition as well as their budget.
One advantage of using a hand-held Laser Comb is that the user is able to perform their hair loss treatment in the privacy of his or her own home or office and at his or her own convenience. The fact that the Laser Comb is portable may mean a lot to those hair loss sufferers who are very private about their hair loss treatment as well as those who simply wish to keep the hair restoration process under their own control.
Another advantage? The hand-held Laser Comb is extremely simple to use. Using the Laser Comb is as simple as brushing your hair for 10 to 15 minutes a few times per week or even daily if you so choose. Whether at home, in your office or on vacation, you are able to take the portable Laser Comb with you, so that you are able to maintain your busy schedule without missing work to attend in-studio Laser Hair Treatment appointments. Another benefit? If more than one person in a household is suffering from hair loss, each may use the same Laser Comb.
Results from using the portable Laser Comb are typically noticed within the first 3 to 6 months, with maximum results being attained after 12 to 24 months. In a clinic, under a capillaroscope you may see new hair starting to grow during the second month.
Some clients using the Laser Hair Therapy will often see results after a few weeks. As with any type of natural hair restoration, individual results are based across the board and on a case-by-case basis. Those that have advanced Hair Loss may initially notice that their hair shedding has slowed down significantly. There will be less hair on their pillows. Soon, the hair will cease shedding. Finally, the hair will begin growing back.
Whether a hair loss sufferer is using the portable Laser Comb or going in to the Hair Loss studio for in-studio Laser Hair Treatments, experts recommend that each regimen be supplemented by vitamins and other topical treatments and supplements that have been proven to enhance the effects of each respective laser treatment, be it the Laser Comb or the in-studio laser. These supplements will increase the cost of both treatment plans if one should choose to include them.
The portable Laser Comb is a low-level light device compared to that of the studio Laser Hair Treatments. Typically the portable device is based on 5 – 12 diode and a studio laser has 110 to 160 laser diodes. With having the lower diode count, your regrowth may take longer to achieve to that of the output of using an in-studio Laser. Recently a new trend has emerged in portable laser devices. Portable lasers have between 60 – 75 laser diodes and bridge the gap between home treatment and achieving better results.
You sit under the home laser as you do an in-studio laser but don’t have to go to a clinic to get treatment. Even though the portable Laser Comb has fewer laser diodes than the Studio Laser (75 compared to 160) you can still achieve the same amount of laser because at home it is simple to treat yourself three times per week versus online going into the studio one to two times per week for your Laser Hair Treatments.
Still, there is a lot to be said for in-studio Laser Hair Treatments. Experts who are all well educated in their field typically staff the studios. Your privacy, comfort and success is of their utmost concern. This is what they are there to provide you with. The studios will more often than not provide state-of-the-art lasers. Normally a consultation will consist of a scalp evaluation and a thorough explanation of what Laser Hair Therapy is. Many of the most popular studios are often affiliated with actual physicians, which is of comfort to many hair loss sufferers.
Another benefit to visiting a studio or clinic (as opposed to using the Laser Comb) is that you are set on a schedule months in advance. You can choose which program you feel is best for you, and you are supplied with the supplements and topical treatments that you will use. All of this being spread out to a simple monthly charge.
The studio lasers are normally comprised of treatments using from 110 to 160 diodes. Now in comparison to the portable Laser Comb, that is over a 100% increase in diodes used. Being that this method is FDA-approved; you are not being subjected to anything harmful. You are only using a higher amount of those diodes, thus, you are increasing the benefits of the Laser Hair Treatment.
That being the case, clients that do regularly use a in-studio Laser are more likely to see results sooner. With the session being only 20-30 minutes long, either weekly, multiple times a week. (Again, you and your certified Hair Loss consultant determine this.) There are conveniences to visiting studios, too. Everything is set for your arrival, you have your session and then you are on your way.
55% of those that use Laser Hair Therapy will see results after 12 weeks, while a recent study showed that 90% of ALL Laser Hair Therapy users would receive some benefit from using the Laser Therapy. Either way, whether you use the Laser Hair Therapy at home or you go to a studio for your Laser Hair Treatment, it does in fact benefit you.
So the question remains of, “What are the benefits?” There are benefits that lie on both sides; each is a matter of convenience for the client, which is most important.
HLCC offers advanced Hair Loss Therapy methods like Laser Hair Loss Therapy and Laser Hair Treatments in all of our clinics, including nonsurgical treatments for thinning hair, baldness and all other Hair Loss conditions.

The hair growth cycle normally lasts for 2 to 6 years. Each strand grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is randomly growing. The remaining 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair begins to develop in its place.
This resting phase makes it normal to shed some hair each day as part of the cycle. However, some people may experience excessive hair loss. Hair loss that is more than normal can affect everybody, and it is good to know what causes this.
There are a number of things that can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, a patient may abruptly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is associated to the stress of the illness and is temporary. Another example is when women just had a baby. This loss, that may occur 3 months after giving birth to most women, is also related to hormones. During pregnancy stage, high levels of certain hormones make the hair more attached to the body which minimizes hair loss. After birth, the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels making that hair fall out. Then the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.
Hormonal problems may cause hair loss too. For example, if your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treating the thyroid disease. Hair loss may also happen if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are having an imbalance state. Correcting this hormonal imbalance may stop the unwanted hair loss.
Some medicines can also cause hair loss. But the moment you stop taking the medicine, hair loss stops too. The medicines that we are talking about include blood thinners (anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), antidepressants and birth control pills.
Certain infections can also cause hair loss such as fungal infections of the scalp. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines. Improper hair care may cause hair loss as well. Wearing pigtails, cornrows, or tight hair rollers put much stress on your hair that can cause hair loss. Minimize using these regularly to avoid scarring of the scalp. Scarring can cause permanent hair loss.
Finally, hair loss could be part of an underlying disease you are suffering, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of these diseases, your urgency is to find the cause so that it can be treated. Examples of hair treatment that can scar your scalp in the process are hot oil treatments and chemicals used in permanents (commonly known as perms).
You may address your hair loss depending on the of type you are experiencing. If a medicine is causing your hair loss, your doctor may be able to prescribe an alternative. Spotting and treating an infection may help prevent hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may stop further hair loss.
Medicines may also help slow or stop the occurence of common baldness. One unisexual medicine, minoxidil (with brand name: Rogaine), is available over the drugstore counter. Just apply it simply to the scalp. Another medicine (however, for men only), finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available with a prescription and comes in pills. Effectivity of these medicines may take up to 6 months.
If the type of your hair loss has no adequate treatment available for your type, you may consider trying different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement.

Is hair loss really THAT normal? Hair loss is normal if the hair cycle is going smoothly but if it is disrupted by some factors, it will already be abnormal. Alopecia or baldness is a condition that has no cure. What you can get in the market are only remedies; products and solutions that can prevent further hair loss. In order to discover the right treatment that is suited to your condition, you must understand the cause of hair loss.
The hair cycle is divided into phases; the prominent phases are the dormant and growing phase. When your hair is already in the dormant phase, it will eventually fall off after some time. After the hair falls off, a new hair will grow. Every day, you shed approximately 1000 strands of hair. This is but normal but if new hair doesn’t grow back, you definitely have a problem.
Hair loss can happen to anyone, men and women, young and old. There are various causes of hair loss and it differs from one person to another. In order to discover the cause of your hair loss, you must consult a doctor. For information purposes, here are some of the major causes of hair loss. Familiarize yourself with the causes and if you experience any one of the causes, visit your family doctor immediately.
• Infection
Topical medications can be used if the cause of your hair loss is an infection. Only a licensed doctor can tell if the hair loss is caused by an infection, so don’t disregard your problem.
• Hormones
Pattern baldness is caused by hormones and this can happen to both men and women. If there is a change in the androgen or estrogen levels, hair loss can set in. An under-active or over-active thyroid gland may also be the cause of hair loss. In order to correct the hormonal imbalance, the doctor may give you steroid or hormone injections.
• Illness
If you have a prolonged illness, hair loss may be an effect. Even major surgery and stress can lead to hair loss. This only means that hair loss may be an indication of a certain health condition or illness. You can’t prevent hair loss if the illness is left uncured.
• Pregnancy
For women who have just given birth, you may be able to notice hair loss after three to four months of giving birth. Pregnancy is a period wherein hormonal changes take place in high levels. This is only temporary and new hair will grow back again. Styling your hair more often can correct the hair thinning.
• Medicines
Anticoagulants are medicines that can be the reason of your hair loss. If you’re taking pills, antidepressants, and excessive vitamin A, then you may suffer from hair loss. If you have cancer and gout and you’re undergoing a series of treatments, hair loss may be a side effect.
It pays to familiarize yourself with the causes of hair loss. Treat it as a warning sign so that you can act on the problem immediately and maintain your beautiful hair. Well of course, as you age its but normal to experience thinning of hair. That’s part of life and all you can do is to live with it. Know the true cause of hair loss and use the appropriate remedy or treatment to maintain your existing hair, and probably grow some hair back.

Male pattern hair loss
Male pattern hair loss or male pattern alopecia is a condition, wherein, a man suffers from hair loss on the top of the head and/or a receding hair line. This progressive thinning of hair is also known as androgenic alopecia. Occurring in adult males, its amount and pattern can vary greatly. Researchers believe that men can inherit this condition from either side of the family. A chemical called dihydrotestosterone or DHT is one of the key factors responsible for male pattern hair loss.
Male pattern hair loss – Causes
As aforementioned, the blame for this condition can be laid at the doorstep of your genes that come from both sides of your family. Genetics, one of the major causes of male pattern hair loss, can make your hair follicles more vulnerable to a chemical substance called DHT. If you are suffering from MPHL, your body has elevated levels of DHT in your balding scalp. According to scientists, DHT is the primary factor responsible for the shrinkage of your hair follicles. It also contributes towards decreasing the number of visible hair. There are other causes of hair loss also which include medicinal side effects, medical conditions, surgical procedures and illnesses.
Overcoming the hair loss problem
There are various treatment options available for treating your hair loss problem. There are a number of products available that have been created specifically for male pattern hair loss. The efficacy of all these products differs in individuals; this means that product that works for someone won’t necessarily work for you. Oral tablets like Propecia are emerging as an effective treatment option for male pattern hair loss. Hair transplant is another option that can help restore lost hair. It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the perfect treatment option for your hair loss.
Buying Propecia for hair loss treatment

What is male pattern hair loss?
Male pattern hair loss is a common condition in which men experience thinning of the hair on the scalp. Often, this results in a receding hairline and/or balding on the top of the head. These changes typically begin gradually in men in their 20s. Doctors believe male pattern hair loss is due to heredity and is dependent on hormonal effects. Doctors refer to this type of hair loss as androgenetic alopecia.
Propecia (Finasteride) – Hair loss medicine
Baldness, whether permanent or temporary, can’t be cured. But treatments are available to help promote hair growth or hide hair loss. In November 1997, Merck has satisfied the panel of scientific advisors (to the FDA) that Propecia (1mg finasteride) is effective in treating hair loss. In December 1997, the FDA officially approved the drug Propeica as the first ever anti-baldness pill in the world.
Oral finasteride is available in 1mg dosage under the brand name Propecia. The recommended dosage for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) is Propecia (Finasteride) 1mg orally once a day.
About Propecia
Propecia is the first and the only treatment available for male pattern hair loss on the vertex (the top of the head) and the anterior mid scalp area (the middle front of the head). Propecia is a prescription pill that is taken orally. Propecia belongs to the class of drugs known as alpha reductase inhibitors. This Hair loss medication is prescribed to male pattern baldness or Hair loss treatment patients who have being suffered by Hair loss problem. Propecia restricts the action of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) and hence reduces hair loss and controls baldness or alopecia in males.
Today Propecia finasteride is the most popular sought after medication to treat male pattern baldness. Trials have shown an 80% success rate in stopping the hair loss process and 64% have shown an actual reversal or mending of previous balding. Propecia finasteride works only in men. Women are strongly advised to refrain from administering Propecia. Propecia is also not recommended for cancer patients.
What are ingredients in it?
The main ingredient in Propecia is Finasteride. It works by restricting the action of the enzyme type II 5 alpha reductase, which acts on the male hormone testosterone and converts it into dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
How Does Propecia (Finasteride) Works?
Testosterone floating in the bloodstream of the typical adult male routinely combines with an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. The result of this interaction forms the more potent sexual hormone known as DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). DHT plays a primary role in proper sexual organ development during the fetal stage of life, as well as the proper development of secondary male characteristics during puberty.
When a man begins to lose his hair, certain genetically programmed follicles begin to develop DHT receptor sites. The DHT attaches itself to these receptor sites and begins to treat the follicle as a foreign object in the body. This chemical change not only affects hair, can cause itching, inflammation, and oiliness. During this time, the follicle, under the attack of DHT, begins to miniaturize with every growth cycle, until after several years, it simply is too small and short to be seen.
When Propecia is taken, it works to inhibit the formation of DHT in the system. Within a few months, the overall DHT levels will have remained low enough on a constant basis that the adverse effects DHT is having on the follicles will stop, resulting in a cessation of hair loss.
Propecia (Finasteride) Dosage
Propecia (Finasteride 1mg) is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss in MEN ONLY. The recommended dosage is 1mg orally once a day. Propecia may be administered with or without meals. In general, daily use for three months or more is necessary before benefit is observed. Continued use is recommended to sustain benefit, which should be re-evaluated periodically. Withdrawal of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 12 months. You can take finasteride anytime during the daytime, but best to keep taking it the same time each day.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
