Hair Loss: How to Combat It?

Hair loss is an ailment that can affect almost all men and women. The cause of hair loss is the change of balance of androgens and estrogens, which are the male and female hormones. The falling of hair typically starts within the age of 12 and 40 years.

There are numerous causes of hair loss. However, the main causes are either genetic or hormonal changes. In fact these causes are behind 95% of hair loss cases. Other causes of hair loss include stress and usage of some drugs. No doubt, reducing one’s stress is important in slowing hair fall. There is a close relationship between DHT and the male baldness pattern. This dihydrotestosterone gives a bad effect on the hair follicles and slows down hair growth.

There are some drugs, which causes hair loss on the scalp as well as other places of the body. If doubted that the cause of one’s hair loss is due to certain medication, they must immediately consult the doctor and look for an alternative suggestion. There are reports of hair loss in both male and female when treated with certain medication for cancer.

One must begin hair loss treatment as soon as it is detected so that the effective treatment can slow down the hair loss. In women, the common cause of hair loss is known as androgenetic alopecia, which is also called as female pattern alopecia or baldness. The treatment of hair loss includes reduction of enzymatic activity that occurs on the scalp.

In male, the most common form of hair loss is the male Pattern hair loss. It represents 95% of all hair loss cases in men. One must look for hair treatment that is suited to him or her for the specific needs and help in hair growth. In women, hair loss also occurs due to hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause.

There are many reasons for hair loss. Hair loss could be due to stress, medication, hormonal imbalance etc. DHT and male pattern baldness are closely related to each other. The dihydrotestosterone has a very bad effect on the hair follicles as it slows down the growth of hair or stops hair growth completely.

As mentioned in the beginning, stress along with mental tension result in hair loss. In the case of males, hair loss is more a genetic problem and is found in the heredity. The testosterone and DHT also causes hair fall and can result in complete baldness. One can grow hair on their bald scalp through medication or surgery. It must be remembered that baldness is a condition and not a disease. Baldness do not occur in a short time but takes time. First Hair thinning occurs and the hair falls off. Slowly the growth of hair stops and one gets bald.
To stop hair loss, one must go for hair loss treatment. One can reverse the course of hair loss if treatment starts early. Through hair loss treatment, one can aid the growth of new hair follicle. One must also keep the internal body functions in correct state. If some illness is found, it must be treated immediately.

People often have the mistaken notion that only males can lose hair and that alopecia is a physiological defect the gentle sex is exempt from. As a matter of fact, almost 20% of females in the world are in dire need of protection from the frightful menace of losing their beautiful hair. Most of them have never imagined that there is such a possibility in a woman’s life. First of all, there is the female pattern alopecia, which is somewhat similar to the male pattern baldness, though much less severe. Women seem now to be increasingly threatened by what is called diffuse idiopathic alopecia, the cause of which has not yet been definitely ascertained. It is an insidious disease which may not be apparent until about 80% of the hair is lost, and is then manifest as a diffuse thinning of the hair over the entire scalp.

Testosterone excretion has been shown to be elevated, and some theories have been put forward on this basis to explain this type of female alopecia. It is said that this type of alopecia is associated with seborrhea. Anyhow seborrhea should be controlled, no matter whether or not it is really the cause of the hair fall. It has also been suggested that estrogens should be taken internally. How effective this therapy is has not yet been determined. Another suggested treatment is low-dose interrupted courses of corticosteroids. It’s now not so wonderful as it once seemed to be.
In fact, the female who has lost part of her hair does not need to be a vegetarian in her diet. She should only be a vegetarian in medication.

It is noteworthy that Chinese angelica, is widely used in traditional Chinese gynecology as a medicine for curing diseases and a tonic for improving health. Its extract has the additional advantage of being able to penetrate easily through the skin and, for this reason, is employed very often as a transdermal passage promoter. In our case, the extract of Chinese angelica carries with it the extracts of the other ingredients to pass through the skin smoothly so as to reach the hair follicles that need regeneration and to pervade together with the other ingredients the environment of hair follicles inside the scalp and provide them with added nutrients. Of these other ingredients, special mention must be made of the tuber of multiflower knotweed, which is reputed to possess a wonderful power of enabling hair to regrow. It has the popular nickname of Blackhead. This nickname came from a folk story, which runs as follows:

Many years ago an old man was stranded on a desolate island as a result of shipwreck. He had to live in a cave and depend on the tuber of multiflower knotweed as his staple food for more than ten years. Fortunately, a ship sailed by and noticed his signal for help. He was saved and carried back to his native village. His fellow villagers were surprised to find that his white hair had turned black. He attributed this change to the tuber of that herb on which he had subsisted.

As no one ever made any experiment to test the truth of the story by subsisting on the tuber for ten years, what the old man related to the villagers remains a folkstory. However, the nickname that has been given to the herb shows that Chinese people believe that the herb has the ability of rehabilitating hair.

The female pattern alopecia is generally considered to be caused by hereditary factors &, therefore, not amenable to treatment. It is asserted, however, that any female who is afflicted by this type of alopecia need not feel despair, for this type of premature loss of hair affects, in women, only the crown and can be successfully concealed with the help of a wig. This conclusion, in our opinion, does not carry conviction. For there is no proof that any disease which is due to a hereditary factor can never be cured by some newly invented means. Besides, it is irrelevant whether the defect is one that can be concealed from the public or not.

Some people are of the opinion that female hair loss is due to some endocrine disorder. In this connection, the female sex hormones come into the center of attention. However, a woman must be cautious about meddling with any of her estrogens. For she would run the risk of getting carcinoma if she should do that. There is another opinion which is also difficult to comply with. Some people say that a female may use her brain too strenuously, thus concentrating the blood of the upper part of her head in the brain and decreasing correspondingly the blood in her scalp. Such an uneven state of blood distribution will in the long run cause the hair to fall off because the hair follicles are short of nourishment. The implication of this opinion is quite obvious. A woman should not be an intellectual worker. No self-respecting female will agree with this idea.

A considerable number of people, including some physicians, entertain the opinion that female alopecia is caused by a lack of proper balance in nutrition. Proteins, vitamins and minerals are all necessary in one’s diet. Yet too much vitamin A and fat in the diet will make one lose hair. If this idea is correct, a woman will need to refrain from eating fish and meat. In short, she had better become a vegetarian in her dietary habit. How can this be carried out?
In fact, the female who has lost part of her hair does not need to be a vegetarian in her diet. She should only be a vegetarian in medication. Instead of using chemical lotions she can apply to her scalp the Chinese herbal lotion, namely the Female-use Evergreen hair regenerator.

The greatest advantage of this version of Evergreen hair regenerator is that it is completely herbal, or vegetable, in origin, and that when it penetrates into the scalp, it will not only revitalize the inactive or decayed hair follicles but also nourish and strengthen all other organisms with which it inevitably will come into contact. Alopecia is generally due to the inactivity of the follicles. The patient may hope that this state of inactivity is only temporary and will soon be over. But there is no means of knowing how long the disturbance will last, or whether or not it will remain so for ever. It will be unwise to wait and see. She must give the failing follicles some more nourishment to invigorate or revive them so that they will not perish.

Another suggested treatment is low dose interrupted courses of corticosteroids. It’s now not so wonderful as it once seemed to be. The Female use hair regenerator we are introducing to patients here is based on the remarkable efficacy of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs in tackling hair loss problems. External application is combined with oral administration, if necessary. And the afflicted girl or woman must be persuaded not to develop any strong neurotic reaction to the hair loss. This is the way traditional Chinese medical practitioners do their work.

In ancient China silk of the light blue color was very precious. It was used only for making rich garments. A beautiful woman’s hair was compared to light-blue silk. The famous poet of the Tang Dynasty Bai Juyi noticed the pitiful fact that women also lost hair and described it in the following line:Fell the silk of light blue and sparse grew the temples.

The situation deplored by the renowned Tang Dynasty poet has become more serious in the contemporary world. But there is no need for female to get into a panic if she finds a few hairs on her pillow in the morning. It is normal for a person, whether male or female, to lose 50-100 pieces of hair during the 24 hours of a day, because he or she is supposed to have one hundred thousand pieces of hair on his or her scalp. If the person washes his or her head and finds a lot of hair in the water, then the situation is more serious. It is highly probable that he or she is losing hair. It is certain that a woman will feel greatly alarmed or even become ashamed of herself if she should discover that her scalp is barely covered by a thin layer of hair. This is a natural reaction, because her beauty is impaired. Now, what are the causes of hair loss in the case of females? An obvious cause is some chronic skin disease. It must not be overlooked that ringworm may bring about alopecia with scaling and pustulation. This is far more serious than alopecia which is due to other diseases, such as anemia, so far as the possibility of regrowth of hair is concerned.

At present there are two kinds of products on the market for treating hair loss, one is of Western medicines and the other is of traditional Chinese medicines. The female who has lost part of her hair does not need to be a vegetarian in her diet. She should only be a vegetarian in medication. Instead of using chemical lotions she can apply to her scalp the Chinese herbal lotion.
